Today was a repeat of yesterday actually. The girls wanted to do the hike again with the Jensons and we were up for that since it was really a great hike (maybe the best I’ve been on yet). I think the change in terrain is really special. Today was a beautiful day too with fewer looming thundering clouds.
Elsa and Anna took charge and showed the other kids the way. The difference when the sun is out is fantastic and the kids ran ahead excitedly. We stayed a while at the lake this time, had snacks, and walked all the way around. A fish was caught and there were a lot of Lion King moments for Anna as she would stand on rocks and yell.
We headed back and it seemed to go fast. We stopped again at the day-use area and took some pictures before heading back to camp. We made a detour to the Trading Post on the way back to camp to pick up some snacks.
On our last night we the Jenson’s, we packed some hot dogs, corn, and salad and cooked it on their grill. Our night was a little bummed out when Keith and I found out our lease on our house is not being renewed so that is now looming over the rest of our vacation, but we’re not going to let it get us down! The kids did a campground scavenger hunt I made up (find 14 dandelions and blow them all in a bunch & 4 rocks and draw smiley faces on them, etc.) we headed back to our camper at dusk (which again is at like 9 pm) after sitting around the fire and roasting marshmallows.
What a wonderful last day.
